Enchanting Soap Collections is Roberta Easter’s dream to keep her ancestors’ craft alive. Growing up in Placitas, New Mexico, Roberta watched her grandmother—nimble with a needle and thread, innovative with the materials available to her, and always working hard, provide clothing, food, and comfort for her family. In the same way, Roberta’s mother was a beautiful example of the importance of tradition and the pride that comes from creating with your own hands.

With sweet memories of homemade pies, jellies, jams, and lye soap curing in the backyard, Roberta continues the tradition of making—not out of necessity, but through a deep passion for her craft. After years of learning and refining the best techniques for creating soap and body products, she now combines time-honored methods with thoughtfully sourced, organic, natural, and wild-harvested ingredients.

A Vision Born in a Tiny Soap Studio

Roberta and her daughter, Chrystal Trykoski, co-founded Enchanting Soap Collections in 2006.

In 2008, while working inside her tiny soap studio—a small bedroom in her Taylor Ranch home—Roberta had a vision. One day, Enchanting Soap Collections would become more than a soap company. It would provide meaningful, flexible employment for women who had experienced life struggles and faced barriers to maintaining traditional employment.

At the time, Chrystal was struggling with several mental health diagnoses, severe anxiety, and addiction. Although she had worked hard to become a phlebotomist, the anxiety and the need to attend frequent medical appointments made it difficult for her to maintain employment. She rented a home next door to Roberta, who witnessed firsthand how difficult it could be for someone to find a workplace that offered understanding, flexibility, and dignity.

Roberta’s vision was deeply personal. She wanted to create the kind of workplace Chrystal—and other women facing similar challenges—deserved.

A Daughter’s Journey Home

In 2009, Chrystal stepped away from Enchanting Soap Collections. Over the next 12 years, her life took her through an abusive and difficult marriage, and six years of methamphetamine addiction.

While Chrystal was away living what she now calls “complete shenanigans,” Roberta held tightly to the vision God had given her. She continued perfecting her craft and building Enchanting Soap Collections, earning the company’s New Mexico True certification and becoming a certified New Mexico Made Manufacturer.

In 2019, Chrystal broke free from addiction, embraced sobriety, and began rebuilding her life.

When she returned to Enchanting Soap Collections, Chrystal initially believed she was simply helping her mother. But in 2022, she finally recognized what Roberta had known all along: she was not merely Roberta’s helper. She was her partner.

Together, they began building the company they had first imagined in 2006.

Living the Vision

Today, Roberta and Chrystal are living the vision Roberta saw inside that tiny Taylor Ranch soap studio so many years ago.

Enchanting Soap Collections has grown from a home-based business into a woman-owned manufacturing company located inside the WESST Enterprise Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We are a certified Women-Owned Small Business, a New Mexico True business, and a certified New Mexico Made Manufacturer.

We create small-batch soap, bath, and body products using thoughtfully sourced ingredients, including certified organic, natural, sustainable, and wild-harvested ingredients. We also partner with local businesses to develop distinctive branded and custom-manufactured products.

But our purpose reaches far beyond the products we make.

Our mission is to provide meaningful and supportive employment for survivors of human trafficking, justice-involved women, women on recovery journeys, and women facing barriers to traditional employment.

We understand that rebuilding a life takes more than a job. It takes patience, flexibility, encouragement, accountability, and someone willing to see the person beyond her past.

Every product we make carries that purpose. Every purchase helps us continue creating opportunities for women to recognize their worth, rebuild their confidence, and find renewed meaning in their lives.

We are not simply making soap.

We are continuing a family tradition, honoring a mother’s vision, celebrating a daughter’s recovery, and creating hope—one handcrafted product at a time.
